Imagine just launching a multi-million dollar business only to have it’s doors close just days later – that’s exactly what happened with Fortress Melbourne, Australia’s largest gaming venue (and i’m sure they’re not alone).
Jules had a chat with Mads Brown, head of product at Fortress Australia who says while there have been challenges – there’s also been a significant silver lining, with the announcement of Fortress’ new online gaming tournament, Rise of Valour.
The online tournament will feature Riot Game’s latest title, Valorant. A ‘counter-strike-esque shooter featuring character traits similar to, Overwatch.
Mads Brown says it’s not just big for Melbourne, it’s big for the entire country. “We’ve opened this tournament up to unlimited teams of any skill level,” says Brown.
“Since lockdown we’ve really shifted to ‘how do we take all of those things that we’ve built for a physical and transfer it to a digital… And how can we foster our community and provide a hub, a cultural hub for gamers across Australia…”
Brown says Fortress are excited to bring such a popular and fun new title to the front of stage. Qualifiers start on August 8, you can get more information and register your team at the link below:
