The Addams Family are back in the first teaser to an all new animated adventure!

After a huge hiatus, The Addams Family are headed back to the big screen!

Originally under production by Despicable Me creators Illumination Entertainment along with director Tim Burton as a stop motion feature back in 2010, the rights for the spooky family have moved onto MGM Studios, with a CG animation due in cinemas this October.

The teaser shows what you would expect from the Addams, kicking off with Gomez and Morticia walking into their trademark haunted victorian mansion, when something deep inside the house bellows ‘GET OUT!’ Where Morticia states ‘It’s hideous,’ and Gomez replies ‘It’s horrible.’ Then together: ‘IT’S HOME!’ We also see daughter Wednesday conducting twisted experiments, and Gomez and Uncle Fester playing an explosive game of Battleship.

Not much is given away plot-wise in the teaser, but the film’s wiki page reads as such:

The Addams family’s lives begin to unravel when they face-off against a treacherous, greedy crafty reality TV host while also preparing for their extended family to arrive for a major celebration.

Voice talents include Oscar Issac as Gomez, Charlize Theron as Morticia and Chloe Grace Moretz as Wednesday Addams.

Although the animation style looks great, I would have loved to have seen another live action version of the family. The Addams Family films of the early 90’s are some of my favourite horror/comedies. Or even to see Tim Burton’s stop motion incarnation would have been delightfully spooky.

My only question is: is this just more of the same? What’s new in this version, I love The Addams Family, but did we need a reboot? Time will tell.
